Background of the Study
End-of-life care is a critical aspect of oncology nursing, as it addresses the needs of patients who are in the terminal stages of cancer. Oncology nurses play a central role in providing comfort, managing symptoms, and supporting families. However, nurses’ attitudes towards end-of-life care can significantly influence the quality of care provided. This study will assess oncology nurses' attitudes towards end-of-life care at Federal Medical Centre, Owerri, Imo State, to identify potential areas of improvement in the delivery of palliative and terminal care.
Statement of the Problem
Despite the importance of end-of-life care in oncology, nurses' attitudes towards this aspect of care may vary widely. Negative attitudes or discomfort with death and dying may affect the delivery of compassionate care. This study aims to explore the attitudes of oncology nurses towards end-of-life care, which can inform training and policy improvements.
